The Arizona Branch Deserves a Standing Ovation | 5 Years, 1 Million Hours & Zero Recordables on the Intel (*NDA) Site in South Chandler, AZ

The Arizona Branch Deserves a Standing Ovation | 5 Years, 1 Million Hours & Zero Recordables on the Intel (*NDA) Site in South Chandler, AZ

Arizona is Intel’s U.S. computer chip manufacturing powerhouse which is why our Murray Company Arizona Branch has even more the reason to celebrate!  In fact, an Oscar-style standing ovation seems most appropriate for the MC Intel crew and their outstanding craftsmen for 5 Years, 1 Million Man Hours and Zero Recordables on this project!  This is a tremendous accomplishment, especially given the complexity of the work, the risks and limitations involved on the project site.

The Intel plant at the Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona is one of the nation’s largest computer chip manufacturing plant sites and one of Murray Company’s most iconic projects on the AZ branch resume (since January 2, 2018).  Five years ago, Murray Company was contracted by Hensel Phelps and Intel directly, most recently the Hoffman Construction Company and NEHP, to deliver the high purity and process piping scope for this NDA (non-discloser agreement) project.  For more than 40 years, Arizona has been vital to Intel’s ability to create world-changing technology. In fact, Intel is investing to advance the ecosystem of innovation.  They’re committed to protecting Arizona’s natural resources through its RISE strategy and sustainability and Murray Company is there to execute this vision.

This celebration is especially meaningful given the project’s challenges which involve high-risk work in an operating/live factories (essentially chemical plants), demo work of all different types, height work throughout, major physical & personnel congestion and complex logistics in general.

Arizona Project Executive Frank Sanders gives insight on MC’s scope,

“the site includes the installation of capacity adds to PCWS/R, OFA, HPOFA, SHPOFA & PVAC systems, basebuild installation of PCW, ALCPCW, OFA, HPOFA, SHPOFA, LPO2, PVAC, ARHV systems, tool-install in highly congested existing factories, lateral Install’s/demo’s throughout all factories, up to 47,000 lb equipment skids rigged off of trucks and move into place.”

The targeted date of project completion is May 31st, 2025 (which includes the Fab 52.2 Eagle Mod-2 Project). More on that here.
