Nearly 300 Murray Company staff members experienced the feeling of winning on Tuesday, November 7th when they gathered for the Annual Shareholder’s Meeting at SoFi Stadium. As they entered the empty 70,000 capacity arena (that MC built a few years ago) guests were greeted with a beaming Murray Company “ESOP” logo on the center-hung Samsung Videoboard/Infinity Screen in one of the nation’s largest sporting venues.
Murray Company had the place to itself for this annual event at which a summary of our growth as a company was presented and the new share price was revealed to vested and future-vested employee-owners. Staff from T1 Mechanical and all of MC’s branches including Thousand Oaks, San Diego, Sacramento, San Leandro and Arizona flew down/drove in for this special celebration.
President/CEO Jim DeFlavio enthusiastically welcomed a room full of eager and excited ESOP’ers, reviewing Murray Company’s performance over the past year, shedding light on the growth of our branches, that of specific departments and where the company is heading. The ESOP Committee’s Steve “Gonzo” Gonzales took the mic too to compliment Jim’s content and CFO Ken Greer discussed the importance of teamwork and working together towards a shared, common goal. Included in the program were Linas Cicenas and Elyse Bluth of Duff & Phelps, a Kroll Business | Corporate Board Advisory Firm, who presented on Murray Company’s general financials, its 20-year history as an employee-owned company and how their firm determines a company’s valuation.
Team Murray Company enjoyed a hosted lunch, cocktail hour, full-field access, private tours of the Chargers’ and Rams’ locker rooms, and many on-field activities like a 40-yard dash, field goal kicks, and just some good ol’ fashioned tackles and scrimmage imitations. Spirits were high as was everyone’s competitive side along with an undeniable shared feeling of being a part of something great.
