What do you like about Murray Company so far?
I really like the environment and their specialty on mechanical work. Having such a welcoming set of coworkers and mentors really helped break into the work environment. I also really like the scope of work that the company does.
-
What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
I would say my technical skills and understanding. Having spent time in the trades you get an understanding for the nature of things; something not taught in school.
-
What's a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?
I really want to run a marathon and do a triathlon. I also want to travel to one more country that I haven't been to and increase my stock portfolio value.
-
What are you happiest doing when you're not working?
I really enjoy going to the gym and following a routine that disassociates me from my phone. Also rock climbing.
-
What are some causes you care about?
Cancer foundations. I've had a family member who suffered from cancer and several friends' family members. At times we take our health for granted as it's important to help who are in need of it.
-
What would be your personal motto?
"On to the next"
-
If you could be anywhere other than here, at this moment, where would you be?
I would like to be at a family event. I always enjoy gathering with my family, spending time with each other and eating everything my aunts and cousins make.
-
Finish this sentence. On sunday mornings, you can usually find me...
sleeping in, then going to church, and eating at a restaurant with my family after. After that you won't find me doing much.
-
What's on your bucket list?
Triathlon, marathon, and doing the Machu Pichu 4D 3N hike.
-
Who's someone you admire, and why?
My dad. He's shown me what it means to be a hard worker, to be resilient, responsible, ambitious, and to have respect. He's shown me that despite having a difficult life growing up, he didn't let that hold him back and it was his reason to give us the life we have today. I'm grateful that he has been a role model and pushed me to follow my passion but to stay grounded with the world. Seeing him work hard makes me want to work harder and giving him everything he deserves.

What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I want to answer this now that I have started and have an idea of what the internship will entail. First, I want to be exposed to all aspects of the construction process. Being at a subcontractor I want to see how the company handles the GC, their employees, and their subcontracted work. Outside of the knowledge I want to obtain in terms of work, I want to gain the reality of the line of work. I've never worked a corporate job, and this is my first time at a company and project of this scale. I want to really see if this is the industry I want to work in, or if I'd prefer commercial or residential. I want the exposure in the workforce to see what path it is I want to pave for myself. I also want to use this opportunity to propel myself further and open up myself to more opportunity. And I want to be able to define success within myself through this internship.
