Murray Company NorCal rung in the month of December with Christmas lights, poinsettias, and no shortage of holiday cheer! Over 100 staff and their special guests attended the Annual NorCal Holiday Party at Wente Vineyards, a golf course & events center in Livermore surrounded by rolling hills and lush vineyards in Livermore, CA.
NorCal President Terry James welcomed all guests, recapped another fantastic year, and presented awards to staff members celebrating special anniversary milestones including:

Dinner was catered by On the Vine Catering. The dinner included steak and chicken while the entertainment menu included a live DJ & photo booth provided by “Amos Productions”. There was also a Toy Drive benefiting Shepherd’s Gate, a local non-profit organization serving women and children. Laughter, holiday toasts and dancing filled the room until the late hours of the evening.
TIM EDGAR (10 Years) Tim has over 30 years’ experience working in the mechanical contracting industry in positions like Project Engineer, Purchasing Manager, Buyer, and Warehouse Manager. Tim joined the Northern CA division in 2013 as Warehouse Manager. He eagerly jumped in to lend a hand whenever and wherever possible to make a difference. Tim’s adaptability mirrors that of a chameleon, as he wears many professional hats overseeing Shipping and Receiving, managing tools & equipment, material and fabrication deliveries, facility maintenance and serving as the NorCal POC for Fleet. Tim is good-spirited, resourceful and 100% reliable, which the NorCal team values. Congratulations on a decade with Murray Company, Tim!
TIM MARTINEZ (10 Years) – Tim originally joined Murray Company in 2011 on the Camp Pendleton project before taking a short break in Hawaii and then joining the NorCal group in 2014. Initially, Tim worked in detailing and wherever else, as needed. In 2016 he stepped into the NorCal Superintendent role and was part of some of the largest projects NorCal has built. In this capacity, Tim spearheaded the division’s Foremen’s training curriculum and worked closely with supervisors on sharpening skills to fly through 3D models, build man-loaders, read burn sheets, and forecasting. In 2019, Tim became the NorCal Detailing Manager, a role that would prove paramount to NorCal’s success. Tim has been a first-class team player in all his roles and tasks at hand. Murray Company as a whole, but the NorCal division in particular, have reaped great rewards from Tim’s leadership and selflessness. Your ten years of unwavering dedication, innovation, and teamwork have played a critical role in our continued success. Congratulations on this anniversary 10-year milestone!
TAHIR UPSHUR (10 Years) Tahir transferred to MC NorCal as a Project Engineer from the Abengoa solar project to support the Intel and Tesla projects. Since then, he has lent a hand to most of the branches’ teams on a variety of projects and tasks. Amongst his co-workers, Tahir has a reputation for his positive attitude. He is always eager to be of service and support the branch and his teammates as needed. Tahir was promoted to Project Manager in 2020. He has run several projects including Neuralink, Tesla, LLNL, Bart, etc.
Outside of work life, Tahir is a defensive backs coach for a local high school. He likes to collect W’s and strongly dislikes when his players get beat on a play or lose a game. Naturally, he applies this same winning attitude and aggressive mindset when running his projects which has translated to his professional successes. You are an inspiration to anyone who has had the pleasure of working with you, Tahir. Congrats on 10 years with Team Murray Company NorCal!
NOEL SANTOS (20 Years) In 2003, Noel started his career with Murray Company as an intern at the UCLA Westwood (Ronald Reagan) hospital project while still attending Cal Poly Pomona. After graduating a year later, Noel officially became a full-time employee and remained assigned to that project for a couple more years learning the ropes under Jim Mayes and Virginia Brown. After UCLA, Noel worked on the Tom Bradley Int’l Airport project from 2006-2010, where he continued to learn, thrive, and was concurrently given multiple projects to manage on his own. Noel then ventured to Estimating where he continued honing his skills. In 2012, leadership was needed on a Joint Venture at Kaiser South Bay which Noel stepped up for and excelled. In ’13, Noel became a Project Manager on the new Stanford Hospital project, a $80M JV where the leadership, skills, and knowledge he had been acquiring proved critical for the project’s success. Upon project completion, Noel relocated and joined the NorCal Division, supporting operations in multiple roles as a Project Manager, Project Executive and Preconstruction Manager. In 2021 Noel was promoted to Vice President and he’s currently heading up Sacramento operations. Every achiever starts somewhere. You onboarded our ship and sailed with us to achieve great goals together. With immense pride and gratitude, congratulations, Noel, on 20 years!
