Hip, hip, hurray! Congratulations are in order for Murray Company Foreman Eric Sperber of Sacramento’s UA Local 447 who was recognized by Skanska USA on the Intel Folsom Chiller Changeout project as a “Care for Life Champion”. Eric joined Murray Company’s NorCal team 3.5 years ago. During which time, he has adapted seamlessly to our culture of safety and excellence; this recognition by the GC is proof of just that.
Skanska’s PX, Katie Cull, sent Murray Company’s Safety Director NorCal, Rex Motzkus, the following message:
“I wanted to take a moment to recognize Eric Sperber from your company as our Care for Life Champion. He embodies Skanska’s core values and is a respected member of the team! We awarded him with a Bose speaker earlier this week to express our appreciation of his commitment to safety. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with him!
Thank you,
Katie Cull | Project Executive | Skanska USA Building Inc.
We applaud Eric and his unwavering approach to safety on this project (which kicked off in January of this year). Eric’s attention to detail and excellent safety practices all around were recognized and appreciated by the general contractor on this project.

Eric Sperber accepts a big pat on the back, deservingly so, and a nice gift (a Bose speaker) from Skanska’s Super, Chad Atherton.
P.S. In terms of Murray Company’s scope on this project, we’re installing:
Sequential demo & replacement of three 850 ton chillers in the Energy Center, including 10” carbon steel chilled water and 12” carbon steel condenser water piping along with up to 3” refrigerant relief piping and small bore condensate drains associated with each chiller. Scope also includes relocating various existing equipment and utilities that are conflicting with move in paths of the new chillers.
