On a bright July morning, the sounds of Downtown Los Angeles mixed with cheers, camera shutters, and the clanging of steel. Hundreds gathered at The Colburn School’s expansion site—a striking Frank Gehry-designed project—to witness the final beam being lifted into place. For Murray Company, working alongside McCarthy Building Companies, the moment marked not just a construction milestone, but a celebration of the city’s commitment to music, dance, and the arts.
The Colburn School is a private performing arts school with a focus on music and dance. Murray Company has partnered with McCarthy Building Companies on the school’s major expansion project.
Los Angeles Mayor, Karen Bass, attended this project milestone, publicly acknowledging the Colburn School’s positive influence on the city’s cultural landscape and spoke about the school’s commitment to arts education and its role in strengthening Downtown LA as an arts hub.
Representing Murray Company were PX (the PM on the job) Miguel Villanueva, Assistant PM Rudy Lopez, GF Todd Reinert, GF Tim Seymour and several other crew members. Many MC crew members, including Juan Quinones and Todd Reinert got the chance to sign the final structural beam before it was set permanently in place by SME Steel.
