More Than a Golf Tournament – Murray Company Drives Community, Competition, and Charity in Arizona

More Than a Golf Tournament – Murray Company Drives Community, Competition, and Charity in Arizona

The 4th Annual Murray Company Arizona Golf Tournament took place at The Legacy Club in Phoenix on Friday, March 27.  Just under 20 Murray Company employees including Chairman/CEO Jim DeFlavio, CFO Ken Greer and President Advanced Tech & NorCal, Terry James, flew in for this annual tournament, joined by additional team members from Corporate, NorCal, Idaho but primarily Arizona. Each employee was paired with a client(s) and a sponsor/vendor(s), bringing total participation to 22 foursomes, just under 90 golfers.

Golfers checked in at 6:00 AM for a 7:30 AM shotgun start at this year’s charity event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year, the goal is to raise as much as possible while staying ahead of the desert heat—and we’re proud to report that both goals were accomplished. Despite temperatures reaching 95+ degrees, conditions remained manageable, particularly for our 19th Hole Putting Contest sponsor, Irex-Argus Contracting, and our very own Senior Estimator, Chuck Taylor, who served as the official witness for the Hole-in-One contest (no winners to report this year).

Here are some event highlights:

The lunch and awards portion of the day provided a welcome break, complete with Texas BBQ and a cool space. As photos from the event streamed live on screen, Idaho-based PX Frank Sanders welcomed guests, thanked sponsors, and led a “changing of the guard,” introducing Arizona’s new Branch Manager, Dan Naylor. Dan opened with thanks and  introductions before presenting the proxy awards, leading an exciting raffle, and drawing the charity prize to a very lucky winner.

Charity Raffle

This year’s charity prize – $1,500 Marriott gift card plus $1,000 cash – were won by Jerome Edwards of Big-D Construction.

The tournament raised funds through the $50 Player’s Package, along with several thousand dollars of charity raffle ticket sales both online and at check-in.  With Murray Company’s 100% match, we are proud to share that $16,000 will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

We extend our sincere thanks to all of our generous players and especially the sponsors whose support played a vital role in making this event possible.
