On Friday, June 26, Murray Company proudly participated in the 20th Annual Southern California Sundt Foundation Charity Golf Tournament at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos. Representing the company were Preconstruction HVAC Lead Kevin Grogg and Vice President John Vanderelst from the San Diego office, along with Estimator Kevin Sena and Project Engineer JD Lopez from the Underground Division. Murray Company served as a Breakfast Sponsor, helping fuel golfers before a day dedicated to supporting the Sundt Foundation’s charitable initiatives. Here’s more on the Sundt Foundation’s purpose:
Since its founding in 1999, the Sundt Foundation has reflected our employee-owners’ passion for giving back to the places where we live and work. Each year, the Foundation awards $3 million in grants to a diverse array of charitable organizations, provides disaster relief contributions, and holds special fundraising events like this tournament in our communities.
Since 2001, the Sundt Foundation has hosted a suite of sporting competitions across the country to raise funds for nonprofit organizations. To date, our golf tournaments have raised over $3 million across our giving areas.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) supports individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases by funding research, providing care, and offering vital resources. Through donations, MDA advances treatments, improves quality of life, and works toward a future free of neuromuscular diseases. Their efforts bring hope to countless families while driving innovation and support across the community.
Murray Company and Sundt Construction share more than an appreciation for breakfast burritos and coffee. As fellow employee-owned companies, we are united by a commitment to collaboration, quality, and giving back to our communities.
That partnership is on full display at the San Diego Airport Administrative Building, where Murray Company is currently delivering the HVAC scope for the new 130,000-square-foot facility. The project will house the Airport Authority’s administrative offices, Authority Board Room, Airport Operations Center, and Emergency Operations Center. While our Underground Division was not selected for the civil scope on this project, the team remains committed to pursuing future opportunities with Sundt and continuing to strengthen this valued partnership.
Events like the Sundt Foundation Charity Golf Tournament help us build relationships with general contracting partners. When employee-owned companies come together in support of organizations that make a difference in our communities, those partnerships take on an even greater purpose. That’s what it’s all about!
