The ACE LA/OC Mentor Program continues to make a meaningful impact in our industry by introducing ambitious and curious high school students to career opportunities in architecture, engineering, and construction all the while raising funds throughout the year to support their mission.
Murray Company proudly participates in several ACE events each year, including their 1st Annual Pickleball Tournament, held on Friday, April 24th at iTennis in La Habra.
The event was spearheaded by Jeffrey Visava of Hathaway Dinwiddie, an active ACE Mentor Committee Member, and brought together industry professionals for an afternoon of friendly competition in support of a great cause.
As a Giveaway Sponsor, Murray Company’s presence was felt throughout the event from branded signage and banners to cooling towels, lip balms, and more. Over 50 players showed up ready to compete, and the courts quickly filled with energy, camaraderie, and just enough competitive edge to keep things interesting.
Representing Murray Company in their branded gear were Executive VP of Business Development, Donny Odom, and Marketing Director, Marta Michel-Lodge. The duo faced off against a strong lineup of competitors, including seasoned players from PCI, a skilled team from W.E. O’Neil, and a competitive squad from McCandless Tile. Donny and Marta will be the first to admit they were the ‘developing’ team on the court that day. Let’s just say there may have been a few close calls in the kitchen, but nothing that couldn’t be settled with a smile and the next serve.
Other participating firms included John A. Martin, Dean Visosky Contractors, Miller Environmental, DPR Construction, Pan-Pacific Mechanical, Critchfield Mechanical, Gensler, Swinerton, AECOM and others, all contributing to a great day. Most importantly, the event successfully raised funds to support the next generation of A/E/C professionals – students who represent the future of our industry.
We’re proud to be part of such a meaningful initiative and look forward to supporting this event again next year… with a little more practice and perhaps a stricter eye on those kitchen violations.
