Murray Company recently welcomed its 2026 Summer Intern cohort to the corporate office for a three-day onboarding experience designed to introduce students to Murray Company’s culture, operations, and the people who make Murray Company successful. Orchestrating this program months ahead of time were Kristy Dominguez and Hector Lujan Jr., our Talent Acquisition Team.
The program brought together interns from across the country for an immersive introduction to Murray Company’s history, values, and commitment to excellence. Over the course of three days, interns had the opportunity to connect with company leadership, learn about our business operations, gain exposure to active projects, and begin building relationships that will support them throughout their internship experience.
The onboarding kicked off with executive welcome remarks and an overview of Murray Company’s internship program, followed by HR and safety orientation sessions that emphasized the importance of our safety-first culture. Interns also participated in a panel discussion featuring former interns and young professionals who shared insights, experiences, and practical advice for making the most of their summer with Murray Company!
A key highlight of the program was the opportunity to see Murray Company’s work firsthand. Interns toured the fabrication facility in Rancho Dominguez, gaining an understanding of the planning, coordination, and craftsmanship that support our projects before materials ever arrive on a jobsite. The group then visited the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant project, where they received a safety briefing and project tour by PM Steve Gonzales, providing valuable exposure to the complexity and scale of the work performed by Murray Company teams in the field.
In addition to operational and project exposure, the program focused on professional development. Interns participated in a leadership panel featuring company leaders including Jim DeFlavio and Ryan Cavanaugh who shared perspectives on career growth, leadership, and the opportunities available within the construction industry. A personal branding session further encouraged interns to think about how they can develop professionally and build meaningful careers.
The onboarding experience concluded with laptop distribution, team introductions, and placement with their respective departments, where they will spend the summer contributing to projects and learning from experienced professionals across the company.
At Murray Company, we believe investing in the next generation of industry professionals is essential to our long-term success. We are excited to welcome these talented students to the team and look forward to supporting their growth as they gain hands-on experience, build industry knowledge, and discover the many opportunities available within our organization.
